André Luiz Vieira

Frontend & Mobile Engineer
Freelancer

Hi, I'm André Luiz Vieira, a Frontend and Mobile Engineer from Curitiba, Brazil.

For the past five years I've been building React and React Native products for banks, credit unions and e-commerce. I care about the parts users feel and teams live with: fast screens, accessible interfaces and code the next developer can read without a tour.

What I do

I work at DB1 Global Software, a Brazilian software company that builds products for clients in finance, retail and other industries.

  • I led the development of a React Native e-commerce app with 500,000+ downloads on Google Play. The squad was still being formed, so I also defined the architecture, the code standards and how we shipped releases.
  • I build web features with React, Next.js and TypeScript for core banking platforms used by 50,000+ customers.
  • I review code, track delivery metrics and spend a good part of my week aligning scope and trade-offs with product and UX.

What I build on my own

Side projects are where I try what I don't get to use at work. These are live:

  • This site: a Next.js 15 front end, a Fastify content API with PostgreSQL, a private writing panel and a blog in three languages.
  • Ritmoso: habits, tasks and goals in one place, built with Next.js, Prisma and PostgreSQL.
  • My Free Flashcards: a spaced-repetition PWA with real-time sync and offline mode.

More on the projects page.

Writing and teaching

I write about React, Next.js, system design, accessibility and performance on my blog, which has passed 3,000 readers. Teaching came before that: at Kenzie Academy I mentored more than 200 bootcamp students a month, and at DB1 I wrote lessons for an internal program that trains people entering the field.

How I got here

I wanted to make games, so I studied information systems. That turned into a full stack bootcamp at Kenzie Academy in 2020, a mentoring job there, and then my first developer role at DB1 in 2021. I finished my technologist degree in Systems Analysis and Development at PUCPR in 2025.

Outside the code

I've played drums since I was 12 and taught myself keyboard later. Music is how I focus, at the desk, at the gym or stuck in traffic. The rest of my free time goes to family, friends and travel.

What's next

I'm looking for Senior Frontend or Mobile Engineer roles, remote or hybrid. If that sounds like your team, check my CV or send me an email.
